Hyatt will bring its Andaz brand to the Australian market at The Star Gold Coast in 2025.
The hotel will be located in the currently under-construction 65-floor tower than makes up the latest stage of the precinct’s $2 billion master plan. The tower topped out recently.
It will have 202 rooms between floors six and 21 in the tower and is expected to open mid-2025. An outdoor pool deck on level six will feature a cocktail bar, alfresco dining and a beach club with private cabanas.
As a brand, Andaz is positioned with an “ethos of sophisticated whimsy” and “celebrates and empowers self-expression through imaginative travel”.
There are currently 30 Andaz properties open around the world with a further two – excluding the Gold Coast resort – opening soon. The highest concentration for the brand is in Asia.
“We are thrilled to announce plans to bring the Andaz brand to Australia’s premier resort destination in collaboration with The Star Gold Coast,” said Hyatt’s Asia Pacific group president, David Udell.
“Hyatt has had a brand presence in Australia for over 40 years, and we are excited to expand our luxury, lifestyle and leisure offerings into sought-after destinations like the Gold Coast.
“This resort will complement our current portfolio of 10 hotels under five distinct brands in Australia, including Park Hyatt, Grand Hyatt, Hyatt Regency, Hyatt Centric and Hyatt Place.”
Meanwhile, the TRYP by Wyndham Southport Gold Coast is set to open this month, although the exact opening date is yet to be confirmed.
The 4.5 star property within the $3.8 billion Imperial Square development will have 225 rooms, a rooftop infinity pool with ocean views, a day spa, a fitness centre and a 100-seat restaurant serving up Mediterranean and Italian food.
The hotel will also have meeting space for up to 60 people, including a rooftop lounge, space for cocktails by the pool and a private dining room.
This is just the second TRYP hotel in Australia, with a property already open in Adelaide.
The Gold Coast hotel is located on the mainland adjacent to the Spit.
“As Southport CBD’s marquee development, Imperial Square will offer a new level of sophistication and unique experiences and TRYP by Wyndham will play a pivotal role in enhancing this distinction for residents and visitors alike and contribute to the vibrant, cosmopolitan atmosphere we envision for this landmark project,” said Robert Badalotti, CEO of Azzura Investments Limited, which is behind the Imperial Square development.
The Gold Coast is the midst of an influx of hotels, set to open over the next few years, including a Mondrian, a Ritz-Carlton and a St. Regis.
