BEIA conference to be held in Taranaki for the first time
New Zealand association Business Events Industry Aotearoa (BEIA) has opened registrations for its annual conference, to be held in New Plymouth on the west coast of the North Island for the first time.

The conference content will be inspired by the Business Events National Strategic Direction 2025 – Pīata Mai – which charts a path to measure and grow the economic, social, cultural and environmental impact of business events in New Zealand.

“We will be covering the hard subjects, diving deep into pressing issues, and telling the stories of our industry,” said BEIA chief executive Lisa Hopkins.

“Everyone will be making the most of this time to connect with colleagues and friends in the industry, and meet new people.

“The beautiful Taranaki region, with its beaches and the magnificent maunga (mountain), will provide exactly the energy and inspiration we need to put our vision for the future into practice.

“We will be closing with a healthy dose of inspiration and a story of redemption from community advocates David Latele and Manu Vatuvei.”

Topics to be covered at the conference include cultural integration, legacy and impact, improving industry collaboration and diversity, equity and inclusion.

Brad Olsen, principal economist at Infometrics, Maretha Smit, CEO of Diversity Works, and Professor Carmel Foley from the University of Technology Sydney, who is currently working on a legacy project with ChristchurchNZ Business Events, will speak at the conference.

The BEIA Mentorship Programme will also wrap up during the conference.

The event will run from November 25 to 27 at the Devon Hotel in New Plymouth, with a welcome function at Fitzroy Beach and a gala evening at Bowl of Brooklands.
