ICC Sydney’s massive contribution to local food and wine industry highlighted
ICC Sydney’s latest win at the NSW Sommelier’s Wine List Awards has thrown the convention centre’s support of local producers back into the spotlight.

Last night the venue won best wine list in an event venue or by a caterer at the annual wine awards. With the curation of sommelier William Wilson, who has been with the venue since it opened, the convention centre has consistently won various categories in this program over the last few years.

Since opening in 2016, ICC Sydney has served more than 400,000 bottles of wine made in NSW.

In 2020, the convention centre committed to serving only wine from NSW producers at the venue.

And in the last financial year, ICC Sydney spent $13 million with local food and wine producers. To date, over its more than seven years of operation, the centre has spent over $65 million with producers in the state.

“ICC Sydney takes pride in celebrating the finest produce of our state,” said ICC Sydney CEO Geoff Donaghy.

“By sourcing our wine through local supply chains, we extend our impact to benefit regional NSW communities.

“We are honoured to present our 100% NSW Wine List to our delegates on a global stage, showcasing the very best that our state has to offer.”

Other winners of note for the business events industry last night were Me-Gal at Taranga Zoo, whose wine list curators, Louella Matthews and Matthew Whittard, took out the best wine list for a Sydney venue with more than 60 seats and The Kyah Hotel in the Blue Mountains whose restaurant Blaq took out the regional large venue category as well as the overall wine list of the year. Sommelier Andres Aragon curated the wine list there.
