Appointments at SATC and The Star
The South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC) has a new – and rather well-known – chair, while The Star has also made a key leadership appointment.

David Koch to chair SATC

Former breakfast television host David Koch will be the next chair of the South Australian Tourism Commission.

Koch was co-host of the Seven Network’s national show, Sunrise, for 21 years, wrapping his role last year.

He is currently the executive chairman of Pinstripe Media, a content marketing, digital publishing and video production business he started with his wife over a decade ago, and chair of Port Adelaide Football Club.

Although he was born in Adelaide, Koch lives in Sydney and will not be moving to South Australia for his new role.

His appointment as chair of SATC is for three years from July 2, 2024. He takes over the position from Andrew Bullock who has been in the role since 2019.

“We are very fortunate to have someone of the calibre of David Koch to lead the work of our state’s tourism commission,” said South Australia’s tourism minister, Zoe Bettison.

“David will give us some fresh perspectives that will enable our sector to keep growing as we outpace the nation.”

The Star appoints group COO

Jeannie Mok is set to join The Star as group chief operating officer from June 11, subject to regulatory approval.

Mok was most recently the chief transformation officer for Crown Resorts, where she designed and oversaw the delivery of a successful remediation program for the business. Crown has since been declared suitable to run its casinos in Melbourne and Sydney by both state regulators.

She will lead remediation efforts for The Star which is currently under supervision in both New South Wales and Queensland and in the midst of its own transformation exercise.

“We are at a pivotal point in our company’s history and Jeannie’s appointment strengthens our leadership team as we focus on implementing the necessary reforms at The Star,” said the company’s chair, Anne Ward.

“Jeannie’s strong leadership skills and highly relevant experience within the industry will be significant assets to our ongoing program of change.

“We are focused on driving sustainable improvements at The Star and fostering a culture of positive transformation at all levels of the organisation. We look forward to working with Jeannie across all operational aspects of this transformation.”
