Excitement builds as Wairarapa hosts inaugural women in leadership retreat
Female leaders in Australia and New Zealand experienced all that the greater Wellington region has to offer at the very first AuSAE women association leadership retreat.

Produced in partnership with Business Events Wellington

In conjunction with Tourism New Zealand, the Australasian Society of Association Executives has created the May 16-19 event that’s likely to become annual and rotate around different regions.

Business Events Wellington and Destination Wairarapa were delighted to have secured the inaugural event in the small Wairarapa town of Martinborough, just an hour’s drive from the capital.

“This was a wonderful opportunity for us to showcase our region to these women leaders and support AuSAE in its first run of the event,” says Business Events Wellington manager Irette Ferreira.

Designed to inspire, grow, and connect association leaders, more than 20 female association executives attended the four-day retreat, which began with a Business Events Wellington-sponsored welcome dinner.

The rest of the itinerary featured inspiring Wairarapa women speakers, external leadership experts, panel discussions, interactive workshops, and a chance to explore Martinborough’s fine restaurants and wineries.

The Wairarapa region boasts award-winning food and beverages, being home to a variety of artisan producers and winemakers who draw inspiration from the surrounding lush landscapes.
