Sydney is set to host what is being pegged as the Southern Hemisphere’s largest ever climate growth event this September.
The Impact X Summit to be held at ICC Sydney is to be the first global event in a series, with three more summits scheduled for 2022 in China and Amsterdam. The Sydney event will be held on September 21 and 22 to coincide with World Zero Emissions Day, Climate Week and the UN General Assembly in New York.
The hybrid event is expected to convene over 2,000 business leaders, technology innovators, investors and international agencies to explore pathways to zero emissions across agriculture, the built environment, energy, industry and manufacturing and transport and infrastructure. The Summit will also promote technology to help the world decarbonise.
“Sydney and NSW are already home to some of the world’s leading innovators in the development of clean technologies, sustainable transport and buildings, and future energy solutions,” said BESydney Chief Executive Lyn Lewis-Smith.
“The IX Summit will be a catalyst for bringing these emerging technologies to scale and driving greater collaboration to achieve the zero emissions goal.”
New South Wales is home to 43 percent of Australia’s Environmental Goods and Services (EGS) businesses.
A series of recommendations and commitments developed as part of the Summit will be presented at the UN Climate Change Conference to be held in the UK in October and November.
The Impact X Summit in Sydney will be jointly hosted with Blue Impacts, based in Singapore.
