Adelaide to host APAC seaweed conference in 2025
DLG Benelux will debut an in-person Asia Pacific edition of its Seagriculture conference in Adelaide next March.

Seagriculture conferences already take place in Europe and the USA and there was an initial online edition of the APAC conference held in 2023.

After the digital Asia Pacific conference attracted 180 delegates from 31 countries, the Australian Sustainable Seaweed Alliance (ASSA) is supporting the first in-person meeting for the region.

“I am delighted that Seagriculture Asia Pacific 2025, the first in-person conference of its type in the Asia Pacific, is coming to Australia, and [this] announcement is the result of months of hard work by both our teams working closely with a wide range of government, industry, and private sector stakeholders,” said ASSA CEO Lindsay Hermes.

“ASSA looks forward to ongoing collaboration with key partners [across Government]…our 11 ASSA members right around the country and other key stakeholders as we leverage this international opportunity to drive our high tech, high growth and highly sustainable Australian seaweed industry forward.”

Hannover Fairs will run the Australian event on behalf of DLG Benelux.

“The decision to host an in-person event marks a significant step forward in establishing a robust foundation for the expansion and enhancement of the Seagriculture conference series,” said DLG Benelux managing director Kuno Jacobs.

“We are very pleased with the collaboration and support of Hannover Fairs Australia.

“Our goal has always been to bring people together in the seaweed sector, and partnering with ASSA helps us achieve that goal even more effectively.”

The event will take place at Adelaide Convention Centre on March 19 and 20, 2025.

The day before the conference kicks off, delegates will also have an opportunity to visit the South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI), which aims to increase the productivity, adaptability and economy of South Australia’s primary industries.
