Tell us about yourself and your role at the NCC.
Gardening and singing karaoke with my friends are passions of mine, second only to ensuring guests have memorable experiences at the National Convention Centre. I have been at the centre since April 2000 and my current role as client services manager for nine years.
Describe your average day.
Every day is different at the National Convention Centre – from conferences with thousands of people to small intimate VIP functions; it’s all in a day’s work. I have the best job at the centre; as the client services manager, anticipating the needs of our clients is my key priority. Welcoming delegates to the centre is one of my favourite responsibilities. I am very proud of what we deliver and the new refurbishment adds a new excitement for all our guests.
On providing clients with exceptional service, what sets you apart from everyone else?
My work motto is: “If our clients are happy, I’m happy”. I aim high when it comes to personal service; anticipating needs and remembering return client requests are part of my role. My attention to detail, product knowledge and consistency are the key factors that set me and the NCC team apart when it comes to service delivery. Local knowledge of Canberra ensures first time visitors enjoy the very best of what is on offer in the nation’s capital.
Best thing about working at NCC?
Working at the National Convention Centre has provided so many memorable experiences over the years. We host many of the country’s leading experts and speakers as well as international presenters and world-class entertainers. With the recent announcement of flights starting with Singapore Airlines in September it will be interesting to see how this affects Canberra as it grows.
