Rave reviews about the food at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre and some excellent speakers was topped off with a night to remember at the Howard Smith Wharves for delegates at the PCOA conference.
Up to 400 delegates attending the conference were treated to a special preview of Howard Smith Wharves, one of the city’s up-and-coming event precincts.
Brisbane Marketing joined with Howard Smith Wharves to host a welcome function and showcase the unique riverfront development taking shape on the disused 1880s-era site under the iconic Story Bridge.
Opening in 2018, Howard Smith Wharves will house exhibition and event spaces, a craft brewery, an array of chic restaurants and an Art Series hotel. The Art Series Hotel Group inspired the delegate evening by displaying works from its properties.
Howard Smith Wharves development director, Luke Fraser, said he was pleased to showcase the precinct to PCOA Conference delegates.
“HSW will feature two unique indoor event spaces and a vast assortment of outdoor event spaces, from rooftop terraces to pop-up marquees and intimate private event spaces nestled amongst the cliffs,” he said.
A highlight of the presentations was a pixel-mapped projection show from Scene Change, the AV sponsor of the evening, which made the entire wall behind the stage fall away to reveal video views of how the precinct will look when fully developed.
Brisbane Convention Bureau general manager, Rob Nelson, said he was delighted to welcome PCOA Conference delegates to Brisbane.
“Brisbane is constantly evolving with new and unique venues, hotels and experiences and HSW is a shining example of quality infrastructure that will further enhance our already strong business events offering,” he said.
A full report on the PCOA Conference – including the incredible food at the BCEC and the speaker line-up – will be appearing in a future edition of micenet magazine.
