Winners announced for the World MICE Awards
New Zealand dominates Oceania as local region misses out on all world categories.

There were no worldwide wins from Oceania across categories including the world’s best venues, destinations, hotels and organisers for different types of business events at the World MICE Awards.

Winners were announced at The Ritz-Carlton, Berlin this week.

Dubai World Trade Centre was named the world’s best convention centre while the National Museum of Qatar won best MICE event venue.

Doha, in Qatar, won the world’s best MICE destination category, while Malé in Maldives took home the global incentive destination category and Dublin, in Ireland, the corporate retreat category.

In the hotel categories, the Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel won best MICE hotel globally, Seven Visions Hotels, The Dvin in Armenia won best new MICE hotel, Forte Village in Italy won best incentive hotel and Vakkaru Maldives won best corporate retreat hotel. Hilton won best MICE hotel brand.

In the organiser categories, Vietravel in Vietnam won best MICE organiser while Informa Markets claimed the exhibition organiser category.

Qatar Airlines won the airline category and IMEX Frankfurt was named the industry’s best trade show globally.

In the Oceania region, New Zealand took home six out of 10 categories including two wins for Auckland as best MICE destination and best corporate retreat destination, Auckland War Memorial Museum winning best MICE event venue, Huka Lodge winning best corporate retreat hotel, Lime & Soda winning best MICE organiser and Air New Zealand winning best airline.

Melbourne hotels fared well with Pan Pacific Melbourne selected as best MICE hotel for Oceania and The Ritz-Carlton Melbourne winning best new MICE hotel.

Fiji won Oceania’s best incentive destination and The St. Regis Bora Bora Resort won best incentive hotel.

The Asia Pacific Incentives and Meetings Event (AIME) was nominated in the global category for best industry trade show.
