Victorian Government hands out nearly $3 million in event support
The Victorian Government has given out almost $3 million in funding to support 122 events held between June and December this year as part of its Small and Medium Events Program.

Events include multicultural festivals, running events, Christmas events, music festivals and street parties.

The events will support local community celebrations as well as pushing visitors out to events in Melbourne suburbs.

Events of between 1,000 and 5,000 people were eligible for up to $25,000 in funding, while events with between 5,000 and 10,000 attendees could receive between $25,000 and $50,000.

“Victoria is undoubtably the events capital and this massive line-up has something that will appeal to everyone,” said Victoria’s minister for tourism, sport and major events, Steve Dimopoulos

“We’re proud to support an initiative that is keeping our events industry workers busy, while supporting local communities across the suburbs of Melbourne to come together to have fun.”

The Small and Medium Events Program was designed to support event organisers and events to delivery following the pandemic lockdown era which put significant restrictions on event operations for more than two years.

Grant recipients can use funds on event costs including venue hire, staffing, performer fees and marketing.
