The 51-key offering, set on 20 acres, a 35-minute drive from Brisbane, has been acquired by Mandala Hotels & Resorts.
The hotel company has been expanding its portfolio over recent times and now controls over 2,000 keys and has more than $250 million in hotel assets.
“This acquisition represents more than growth – it embodies our vision to curate a destination that reflects the natural majesty of the Moreton Bay region,” said Mandala Hotels & Resorts principal, Ryan Shaw.
The new owners of Mercure Clear Mountain Lodge have flagged a complete refurbishment of the property, including adding new rooms, and a rebrand of the lodge to an internationally known 5-star brand new to the Brisbane area.
The hotel includes eight event spaces for groups of between eight and 240 attendees, with these spaces also in line for a major upgrade as part of the forthcoming works.
Further details of the refurbishment and the rebrand will be revealed in early August.
A new general manager has been appointed to lead the renovation and rebrand of the property, with Geoff Clark returning to Australia from the Maldives to take up the role.
With experience as an executive chef and in hotel operations and management, Clark was most recently director of operations for Minor Hotels in the Maldives.
“Returning to Queensland to guide Mercure Clear Mountain Lodge into its next chapter is an honour,” said Clark.
“I look forward to establishing it as a benchmark for leisure escapes, weddings and executive retreats.”
Mandala Hotels & Resorts also owns the Mercure Cairns and Mercure Albury as well as Mantra and Rydges properties in Mackay, Bunbury and Armidale.
