Small bites: Sprintr launches sustainable kiosk, new Sydney event venue and $100 million in business events for Brisbane
Three quick updates from the full spectrum of Australia’s business events industry.

Sprintr launches fully recyclable registration kiosk

Known as the EcoKiosk, Sprintr’s new registration kiosk is made from lightweight paper board and aims to help the business events sector reduce its carbon footprint and environmental impact.

The kiosk can be both customised and reused.

“Our original kiosk was innovative at the time and opened new ways to engage attendees from the entrance of any event,” said Sprintr’s director of business and innovation, Chris Schlueter.

“We’ve worked hard over the best part of a year with our partner Next Printing to design, prototype and produce a product that has the same functionality and customisable appeal, but greatly improves sustainability goals.

“We’re thrilled to be able to bring a product to event professionals that not only reduces carbon footprint, but also provides an easier logistical option with the same features enjoyed from our original kiosk.

“We have additional ecofriendly innovations in development and are dedicated to delivering sustainable solutions for our clients and the industry,” he said.

BEDA secures $100 million in business events for Brisbane

Brisbane Economic Development Agency (BEDA) won business events for Brisbane worth $100 million in the last financial year.

The feat comes wrapped up in BEDA’s wider economic achievements, having played a role in injecting over $1 billion into the city’s economy in the 2023-2024 financial year.

This includes supporting major events which had a $253 million economic impact alongside delivering investment attraction and business growth programs that generated $694 million for the economy.

“We’re extremely proud to have delivered this billion-dollar boost to Brisbane, and we’re just getting started,” said BEDA CEO Anthony Ryan.

“BEDA has spearheaded collaboration in this city over the past two years, to supercharge the attraction and activation of investment, tourism and events to the city.

“In the past 12 months, we launched our inaugural State of the City Report to showcase Brisbane’s competitive advantage on the global stage, secured key events like NRL Magic Round for three more years, rolled out our first-of-its-kind MoreTix tourism initiative, delivered our Brisbane Favours the Bold destination marketing campaign and helped businesses to both scale globally and grow locally.”

The Lawns of Double Bay

Refurbished event venue opens in Sydney’s eastern suburbs

The Lawns of Double Bay officially launched last night after a multi-million-dollar, six-month restoration.

The venue in Double Bay, a harbourside suburb in Sydney’s inner east, can accommodate groups of up to 250 standing or 170 seated, with both indoor and heated outdoor space.

The indoor space is 500m2 while the undercover outdoor balcony is 100m2. The venue is catered by June Edelmuth Catering, which has a commercial kitchen onsite.

The event venue is operated independently, but is also the clubhouse for the Double Bay Bowling Club.

“We are thrilled to unveil our refurbished venue, which has been thoughtfully redesigned to enhance the experience of our guests,” said The Lawns of Double Bay general manager, Steve Edelmuth.

“Our goal was to blend modern amenities with the charm and character of the original space, creating an inviting atmosphere for all occasions.

“We believe our visitors will appreciate the attention to detail and the improvements we’ve made, ensuring that every event held here is memorable.”
