New website for MCEC

Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) has launched a new website offering 360-degree virtual tours of the venue to help pull in more international events.

According to the venue, 20 per cent of visitor’s to the website are from overseas. The virtual tours were created with support from Tourism Australia’s Advance Program which works with industry on projects to boost international business events interest.

“The website is the first touchpoint for our customers and our visitors, and we wanted it to reflect the exceptional experiences they receive inside our venue,” said MCEC’s head of marketing, Liz Kozmevski.

The new website also showcases the best of Melbourne to potential clients.

“When you book an event at MCEC, you’re not just booking a room, you’re booking a whole experience, from the layout and technical requirements to the food and wine served to delegates, to accommodation and incredible add-on experiences around Melbourne,” said Kozmevski.

“The new website makes it easier than ever to get inspired and plan every facet of your event.”

The website also comes with improved accessibility features for audiences viewing the site on different devices as well as those with accessibility needs.

Sunshine Coast hosts Sydney soiree

Business Events Sunshine Coast has hosted the first of its annual “Sunshine Soiree” roadshow events in Sydney last week at Terrace on the Domain.

More than 50 Sydney based event organisers met with 14 Sunshine Coast business events suppliers to talk business events on the Sunshine Coast.

“We had representation from across our business events community including accommodation, venue, attractions and tour operators,” said BESC business and leisure events manager, Ali Thompson.

“The feedback was very positive and the timing perfect as the meeting and incentive market is gathering momentum and our rich diversity of product options and ease of accessibility makes the Sunshine Coast a premium destination for business events.”

Sunshine Soiree events for Brisbane and Melbourne are scheduled for September and October.

Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay takes out three internal Marriott International awards

The Fiji resort was recognised as hotel of the year and also took home the awards for top hotel sales growth and highest food and beverage revenue growth in the premium category.

The awards cover 520 Marriott properties in the Asia Pacific – excluding China.
