Next MEA conference to be held in Sydney
Meetings and Events Australia (MEA) will hold its 50th anniversary conference in Sydney in 2025.

“As the birthplace of MEA, Sydney holds a special place in our history, and it feels only fitting to return home for this momentous occasion,” said MEA board member and chair of the conference committee, Jess Glass, who announced the conference’s location on behalf of MEA.

“This event will not only commemorate the past five decades of excellence in Australia’s events industry but also look forward to what lies ahead in this dynamic and ever-evolving field.

“This is a special opportunity for all of us to reconnect, reflect and reignite our passion for the events industry.”

The association is currently looking for a venue in Sydney to host the conference and a PCO to deliver both the 2025 and 2026 conferences.

In the tender for the PCO, MEA says it is looking to “reimagine” the conference and is hoping to attract larger numbers in 2025, given the location coincides with the largest presence of MEA members.

“Our goal is to ensure the 2025 conference is not only a celebration of the past but also a showcase of cutting-edge trends and innovations that will shape the future of our profession,” said Glass.

The association intends to return the conference to a regional location in 2026.

MEA is going through a period of considerable change, with CEO Peter McDonald recently announcing his plans to depart. The organisation is also currently seeking feedback from the industry to better understand needs and guide future growth.
