New event spaces open in Perth
The new function centre at Perth Zoo has opened as part of a major master plan for the attraction.

The Maali at Perth Zoo has its own entrance and can cater to event groups of up to 800 attendees. There are four spaces within the function centre.

As previously announced, Restaurant Associates Venues has been appointed to manage the new event spaces. The business, part of Compass Group, already operates function spaces at Melbourne and Werribee Zoos in Victoria, as well as the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra and the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne.

“Under the master plan, which has been supported by a $51 million investment from the Cook Government, our iconic Zoo will be able to modernise and deliver even better experiences for visitors, while ensuring stronger conservation outcomes for threatened species,” said Western Australia’s Premier, Roger Cook.

The zoo is an eight-minute ferry ride from Elizabeth Quay in Perth’s city centre, making the new event space a viable option for off-site functions for conference groups at Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, which is located adjacent to Elizabeth Quay.

The opening of the new event centre, alongside a new café precinct at the zoo comes just in advance of Perth Zoo’s 125th birthday which will be celebrated this weekend.
