Penny Priest has been appointed as chair of the board at the Northern Territory Major Events Company, after more than four years on the board.
Priest is CEO of Crocosaurus Cove in Darwin and Fitzroy Island Resort off the coast of Cairns. She has been the general manager at Crocosaurus Cove for nearly 17 years and also currently sits on the board of Tourism Top End.
“I look forward to collaborating with the NTMEC team and NT Government to continue delivering unique festivals and events that showcase the best of the Northern Territory,” said Priest.
The NT Major Events Company oversees some of the largest public events in the Territory, including the award-winning Parrtjima – A Festival in Light, music festival BASSINTHEGRASS and motor event Red CentreNATS. The body also administered public event grants on behalf of the Territory government.
Over at Tourism NT – of which Northern Territory Business Events is a part – Paul Ah Chee has been appointed chair of the Tourism NT board of commissioners.
Ah Chee is also chair of Tourism NT’s Aboriginal Tourism Committee and was previously a director of Alice Springs Desert Park.
“Together with the board and everyone across the tourism industry, I am looking forward to reaffirming our collective spirit and further developing mutual understanding across the Territory,” he said.
“We are on a remarkable journey to revitalise and grow our industry and the destination as a whole.”
