Just months after the Moxy brand made its Australian debut with the 301-room Moxy Sydney Airport, Marriott International has announced a new-build Moxy for Pitt Street in Sydney’s city centre.
The 314-room hotel will be roughly opposite Museum Station and a short walk from Pitt Street Mall. It will feature the city’s highest rooftop bar, on level 34, as well as having meeting spaces within the hotel.
The brand’s signature style is playful and energetic, featuring communal spaces and distinctive experiences.
“Moxy is renowned around the world over as a high-energy hotel experience that breaks the rules and makes travel fun,” said Marriott’s vice president of hotel development for Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific, Richard Crawford.
“It’s a brand that absolutely belongs in the heart of Sydney, where the city’s iconic attractions and urban excitement make for a perfect base for our fun-hunters. We are absolutely thrilled to announce this latest signing in Sydney CBD.
“There is no place more challenging in Australia to secure new hotel footholds than Sydney CBD, so today’s signing is remarkable.
“The project reflects the capability and tenacity of the hotel development consortium, led by Metrics, Rebel Property Group, Pelligra Group and Mustaca Group, who we are delighted to be working with to deliver what is certain to be one of Sydney’s most exciting and unique hotels.”
With Moxy Sydney Airport opening in August, Moxy Sydney Pitt Street will be the eighth hotel for Marriott in Sydney. Others include the Sheraton Grand Sydney Hyde Park, the Sydney Harbour Marriott Hotel and the just-opened W Sydney in Darling Harbour.
