EVT will convert the existing 152-room Rydges Lakeland Resort in Queenstown into an extension of the current 69-room QT Queenstown, located next door to the Rydges.
Once complete the QT Queenstown will have 222 rooms, most with balconies.
Currently the QT Queenstown offers eight dedicated event spaces, with the largest single space able to cater to up to 450 attendees.
“Queenstown continues to be one of the best performing hotel markets in Australasia, and our hotel property is in a prime location on the shores of Lake Wakatipu,” said EVT’s commercial director, Mathew Duff.
“The refurbishment will significantly enhance the assets value and grow earnings for our shareholders. Guests will step into something truly special – QT’s signature design, breathtaking views and thoughtfully curated spaces.”
The Rydges property has already closed for works, while the QT Queenstown will remain open throughout the expansion, with rooms to be added to the QT stock progressively through 2026.
In Australia, EVT is also eyeing an extension of QT Sydney, with development approval already received to increase the property by 70 rooms, as well as adding new event space. There is also potential for a new hotel tower on the same site.
