ICC Sydney expands its Legacy Program
Sydney’s convention and exhibition centre, ICC Sydney, has added a stream to its Legacy Program, which helps event organisers leave a positive impact and connect with the Sydney community through their events.

The new ‘Inclusion and belonging’ stream champions accessibility alongside cultural diversity and celebrating Australia’s First Nations and LGBTQIA+ communities.

This stream joins four existing arms of the Legacy Program: environmental sustainability, First Nations, creative industries and innovators and entrepreneurs. An additional existing stream, generation next has now been integrated into all of the other legacy streams.

ICC Sydney celebrated and highlighted its legacy program earlier this month with an experiential event for industry called RESPECT, which touched on all of the legacy streams.

RESPECT included a performance of John Farnham’s ‘You’re the Voice’ in the Wiradjuri Indigenous language by the KARI Singers, an on-stage chat between ICC Sydney’s director of corporate affairs, communication and sustainability, Samantha Glass, and University of Technology Sydney’s deputy vice chancellor of enterprise, Glenn Wightwick, on-screen live captioning of speakers who took the stage, and a performance of a poem written specially for the event by co-founder of the Bankstown Poetry Slam, Sara Mansour.

The interactive second half of the event included a sustainability game show taking inspiration from ‘The Price is Right’, edible centrepieces and a yarning circle.

“Respect is part of ICC Sydney’s DNA – it underpins our team culture, the way we deliver events for our clients, interact with our producers, suppliers and community partners and how we respect our environment,” said ICC Sydney’s CEO Geoff Donaghy.

“ICC Sydney is a true hub for curated, socially impactful, sustainable, collaborative, and innovative events that leave a positive legacy for future generations. Our dynamic RESPECT experience reflected the rich tapestry of ICC Sydney’s community partnerships established through our Legacy Program – inspiring the creation of events that meet ever-growing delegate and patron demand for environmentally and socially responsible experiences.”
