Hong Kong Airport City development moving ahead
As Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) celebrated its 25th anniversary earlier in July, the Hong Kong Government and Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) affirmed they are pressing ahead with the “Airport City” development strategy to enhance the airport’s status as an international aviation hub.

The Airport City will comprise aviation, tourism, trade, retail and entertainment. Airport expansion has seen a third runway added for long-term air traffic growth as well as Phase two development of AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE) which will house Hong Kong’s largest indoor, multipurpose performance arena with more than 20,000 seats and increase total exhibition space to 100,000m2.

Signalling business confidence, Informa Markets Asia will organise the inaugural Super Terminal Expo from November 5-7, 2024, bringing together professionals from the aviation, shipping, rail and road industries. To be held at AWE, Informa said the show “marks a new era of collaboration and innovation across the transportation and logistics industries”.

“AsiaWorld-Expo takes immense pride in facilitating transformative dialogues set to redefine the transportation and logistics sectors,”  said AWE chairman Simon Li.

“Hosting Super Terminal Expo will highlight our city’s commitment to nurturing progress and development within these industries,” said Jack So, chairman of AAHK, the event’s strategic partner.

Super Terminal Expo is collaborating with CAPA – Centre for Aviation, which will co-locate the CAPA Airline Leader Summit Asia & Sustainability Awards 2024 with the Expo.

“With world-class facilities at AWE, HKIA is not only an air transportation leader, but also an arena for global mega events. We look forward to welcoming delegates from around the world and showcasing our city to a global audience,” added So.
