Expressions of interest sought to develop new Gold Coast precinct

The Queensland Government has released the last land parcel on The Spit on the Gold Coast, looking to attract the development of accommodation and event facilities.

The land release is sizeable – roughly 3.5 hectares on the waterfront – with the masterplan for the area earmarking it for a resort, further accommodation, a function centre and a marina.

The site, called Village Centre North, is just south of Seaworld.

“Queensland is open for business, and Village Centre North is exactly the type of opportunity that highlights our state’s ambition,” said Queensland’s Deputy Premier, Jarrod Bleijie, who is also the state’s minister for state development, infrastructure and planning.

“Our government’s target is to unlock all development sites identified in The Spit Master Plan, with more than $1 billion in job-creating investment already progressing across the precinct.

“Village Centre North is the next step in activating The Spit.

“It will boost tourism, create new jobs, support local businesses, drive new economic opportunities and bring renewed energy to an area deeply valued by locals and visitors alike.”

Expressions of Interest are open until 2pm on April 22. The tender documents can be accessed via the Queensland Government’s VendorPanel site.
