Australian Event Awards spotlight: Event Supplier of the Year

The Australian Event Awards recognised the best of the best in the events industry at its awards ceremony in September, amongst which, Clean Vibes took home the title for Service Company of the Year for its sustainable event cleaning and waste management services, as well as being named the Event Supplier of the Year.

Produced in partnership with the Australian Event Awards

Andrew Macarthur from Clean Vibes shares the company’s award-winning approach to cleaning and waste management at events.

What made you start the company?

Its roots can be traced back to my experience in managing waste and recycling at major global events. Witnessing the environmental impact — over 800 tonnes of waste generated—inspired me to take action.

I returned to Australia with the goal of delivering cost-effective and eco-friendly solutions to an industry in need of such initiatives.

What services can you provide?

We provide comprehensive services tailored to business events. Our team is trained to meticulously categorise waste streams by separating recyclables, compostables, and general waste with precision to ensure it gets sorted into the correct streams.

We devise strategies to reduce energy consumption, minimise water usage, and integrate sustainable practices into event logistics. This ensures that every facet of the event aligns with the broader environmental goals.

What’s different about what you do?

Clean Vibes actively partner with organisations like the KARI Foundation, a leading Aboriginal not-for-profit, to raise funds through container recycling at major events. Together, we’ve raised over $100,000 for charity.

Through this partnership and the automated depots in Mascot in NSW and Melton in Victoria, we’ve not only contributed to environmental sustainability but also created employment opportunities for KARI community members.

What are your future plans?

We plan to expand our reach, targeting over 150 festivals and events across NSW, Queensland, and the ACT by 2024. By introducing new and exciting sustainability initiatives, Clean Vibes envisions making a positive impact on both the environment and the communities it serves.

What does winning an Australian Event Award mean to you?

Being recognised as Event Supplier of the Year serves as a resounding validation of Clean Vibes’ unwavering commitment to excellence in sustainable event cleaning and waste management. It acknowledges the relentless efforts, meticulous planning, hard work invested by our team members to achieve remarkable results and reflects the tireless pursuit of excellence that defines Clean Vibes’ approach to every project, ensuring that sustainability is not just a goal but a tangible outcome. It provides an opportunity to further our commitment to innovative waste management solutions and [we] look forward to implementing new initiatives at future events.
