Langham Hospitality Group has a new cluster director of marketing and City Recital Hall has appointed a new CEO.

Langham Hospitality Group brings a new face into the fold

Jay Nikolin has been appointed the cluster director of marketing and communications for The Langham, Melbourne and The Langham, Sydney.

Nikolin comes to Langham with over 15 years of hotel experience, including at other luxury brands such as Sofitel Melbourne on Collins and Hotel Lindrum, a former M Gallery property in Melbourne’s CBD.

His most recent role was as the director of marketing for The StandardX, Melbourne, which is expected to open this year.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jay Nikolin to our team,” said Jeffrey van Vorsselen, managing director of The Langham, Melbourne and regional vice president of operations for Langham Hospitality Group in the Pacific region.

“His proven track record of driving results through innovative marketing initiatives and strategic partnerships perfectly aligns with our vision for The Langham brand and we are confident that his expertise will significantly contribute to the success of both The Langham, Melbourne and The Langham, Sydney.”

Nikolin will be tasked with various aspects of promoting the Langham experience at the Sydney and Melbourne properties, including for business events.

Meet City Recital Hall’s new CEO

Former Sydney WorldPride CEO, Kate Wickett, has been appointed CEO of City Recital Hall, a performance venue tucked away in Sydney’s CBD.

The venue can also be hired for awards nights and galas.

Originally a lawyer, Wickett was co-chair of the Sydney Mardi Gras from 2017 to 2021 and CEO of Sydney’s WorldPride event from 2020 until the event was wrapped up in 2023.

“We are delighted to have Kate joining the City Recital Hall as our next CEO, following an extensive search process,” said City Recital Hall chair, Rachel Launders.

“Having run the very successful WorldPride 2023 in Sydney, Kate has impeccable connections into all tiers of government and the business community, which will be of great benefit to the hall as we look to cement our place in the state’s cultural landscape, offering our exceptional and diverse programming.”
