JW Marriott Fiji Resort & Spa is expected to open in the first quarter of 2027, with 282 rooms, suites and villas and significant event space.
The property sits within a Marriott hotel precinct on Denarau Island, which also includes Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort and Sheraton Denarau Villas.
The JW Marriott resort will include two-bedroom villas with their own private pools, alongside suites and standard guest rooms, a family pool and an adults-only pool, which will have a pool bar and poolside dining.
The resort will feature a 309m2 ballroom with 490m2 of pre-function space and five other meeting rooms.
The property will also have an extensive culinary offering, including a Japanese influenced restaurant, a wine and cocktail lounge, a Fijian dining and cultural experience and an all-day dining restaurant.
The opening of the first JW Marriott in the Pacific Islands follows a deal between Marriott International and the hotel’s owner, Dubbo Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF), which is the state retirement fund.
“Fiji is one of the Pacific’s most compelling resort destinations, and we are excited to work with Fiji National Provident Fund to introduce JW Marriott to the market,” said Marriott’s president of Asia Pacific, excluding China, Rajeev Menon.
“JW Marriott’s focus on mindful experiences, meaningful connections and holistic well-being is a natural complement to the resort’s beautiful natural setting on Denarau Island.
“We look forward to creating a destination where guests can come together, be present and experience the warmth of Fiji through the lens of this exceptional luxury brand.”
CEO of Fiji National Provident Fund, Viliame Vodonaivalu, said the rebranded hotel would help create long-term value for Fijians.
“The introduction of JW Marriott is a significant milestone for one of our key tourism assets and reflects our confidence in the future of Fiji’s tourism industry,” said Vodonaivalu.
“Through this collaboration, we are not only strengthening an important investment on behalf of our members, but also supporting an industry that creates jobs, attracts visitors and contributes to the growth of our economy.
“We are proud to see this iconic Fijian resort enter a new chapter with one of the world’s leading luxury hospitality brands.”
