A new Holiday Inn Express is slated for Perth’s CBD, 400m from Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre (PCEC).

The hotel will see an existing office building converted, with the property an extension of an existing partnership between the Malaysia headquartered SKS Group and IHG Hotels and Resorts.

The 103-room Holiday Inn Express Perth City Centre will be located at 178 St Georges Terrace.

“Perth remains an important growth market for IHG, supported by strong corporate demand and increasing appeal as a leisure destination,” said IHG’s managing director for Australasia and the Pacific, Matt Tripolone.

“We’re delighted to be expanding our partnership with SKS Group and bringing another Holiday Inn Express to such a prominent CBD location.

“Holiday Inn Express combines an efficient operating model with the strength of IHG’s global distribution, IHG One Rewards loyalty programme and commercial capabilities.

“It’s about matching the right brand with the right location to deliver long-term value for owners and we’re confident both hotels will be great additions to our Perth portfolio.”

IHG and SKS Group are already collaborating on the 170-key Holiday Inn Express Cockburn, set to open this December about a little over 20km south of Perth’s CBD.

“We see significant long-term opportunity in Perth’s hotel sector, and this project is an important step in expanding our hospitality portfolio with IHG in Australia,” said SKS Group director and CFO, Eugene Lim.

“Transforming 178 St Georges Terrace allows us to give an established CBD building a new purpose, combining our development expertise with the strength of the Holiday Inn Express brand to deliver a quality hotel in a prime city location.”

SKS Group already has two open hotels under Hilton brands in Perth.
