The new ChatGPT presence allows travellers to find properties within the EVT Hotels and Resorts portfolio, see different room types and hotel amenities through natural conversation within ChatGPT. The app can also be used to ask questions while staying at an EVT property.
“The way travellers discover and evaluate hotels is evolving rapidly,” said EVT’s group general manager of technology and digital, Andrew Turner.
“AI-powered search and conversational experiences are becoming an important part of the customer journey, and we see a significant opportunity to ensure our brands and properties are represented accurately and effectively in these environments.”
The app also provides basic information about event spaces in EVT’s hotel portfolio as well as contact information to make an event enquiry. EVT told micenet that future iterations of the ChatGPT app will ramp up business events related content to provide more detailed information about event spaces alongside event packages and booking functionality.
“For years the focus has been on where a brand ranks in search results,” said Turner.
“The emerging question is why an AI model would recommend a particular hotel in the first place.
“That requires a different approach to content, data and digital visibility and we’re investing accordingly.”
EVT’s ChatGPT app launch follows hot on the heels of Virgin Australia’s debut on the platform – appearing to mark a new era of how products and services within the visitor economy are found by their customers.
