The two events will be held together for the first time in 2026, with ICC Sydney as the host.

The one-day NSW Visitor Economy Forum, run by Destination NSW, will be held during the day on November 9, with the NSW Tourism Awards, run by the NSW Tourism Association, to chase it in the evening. The Visitor Economy Forum is free to attend, while the awards ceremony is ticketed.

“Aligning the NSW Visitor Economy Forum with the NSW Tourism Awards will create an enhanced opportunity for industry, government and partners to connect with each other and share ideas as we strive to achieve the [NSW Visitor Economy] Strategy’s goals,” said Destination NSW CEO, Karen Jones.

“The NSW Visitor Economy Strategy has a bold target of growing visitor expenditure to $91 billion over the next decade.

“Destination NSW has proudly supported the NSW Tourism Awards for many years and it will be exciting to join with the NSW Tourism Association and hundreds of stakeholders at ICC Sydney for an insightful daytime program, followed by an evening celebrating tourism industry excellence.”

The state’s tourism minister, Steve Kamper, echoed some of Jones’ comments.

“Hosting the NSW Visitor Economy Forum and the NSW Tourism Awards in tandem at ICC Sydney will ensure more visitor economy stakeholders benefit from the insights and accolades the two events will bring.”

The NSW Visitor Economy Forum includes content for business events stakeholders, while the NSW Tourism Awards has a business events venues category.

“This partnership reflects a shared commitment to supporting a strong, connected and future-focused visitor economy across NSW – which is more important now than ever as businesses continue to navigate change and evolving market conditions,” said NSW Tourism Association CEO, Natalie Godward.

Submissions for the NSW Tourism Awards are currently open, with the initial nomination window closing June 12. Final submissions close in August.
