International event agency acquires Queensland event business

The UK headquartered Identity has acquired Event Planning Group (EPG), based in Southeast Queensland.

While Identity largely works on the likes of government summits and corporate events, EPG is primarily focussed on World Expos and major sporting events, having worked on the likes of Commonwealth and Olympic Games, as well as rugby, cricket and soccer world cups.

“This represents a significant strengthening of our global major projects capability,” said Identity’s director of major projects, Simon Dunnell.

“EPG have built an exceptional business with deep expertise in sporting events, expos, business activations and cultural projects delivered worldwide.

“Their capability will enhance our delivery across existing operations in the UK, US and Middle East, whilst establishing our presence in Australia.

“We’re committed to contributing to Australia’s position as a hub for world-class major projects delivery and supporting the local economy.

“This isn’t about adding a logo to our portfolio – it’s about genuine capability expansion backed by proven expertise.”

The acquisition sees EPG retain independence in its operations – while being able to leverage Identity’s expertise and resources – alongside keeping its own branding with “an Identity company” added on. The Australian company also retains its established leaders Andrew Sharp and Jake Benson.

“We’re thrilled to join the Identity family,” said Sharp.

“Our clients will continue working with the same EPG team they trust, whilst gaining access to significantly enhanced capabilities.

“Major projects deserve major resources and local expertise – now we can strengthen our delivery of both.

“Whether it’s a major sporting event, an expo, a multinational business conference or a large-scale cultural activation anywhere in the world, we can deliver even greater creative excellence and operational rigour.”

Benson noted that important values aligned between the two companies.

“Identity shares our commitment to delivering quality outcomes on complex projects globally.

“We’re staying local – same team, same relationships, same commitment to our clients – but now we have global resources behind us to deliver major projects at even greater scale.”

Identity says it will invest in the Australian business and grow the team here.
