Significant increase in Singapore stopovers between Australia and Europe
Singapore’s Changi Airport has seen a 38 per cent rise in booking volumes on flights between Australia and Europe in the first half of March, according to Flight Centre Travel Group and its subsidiaries.
The data comes from Flight Centre Travel Group, FCM Travel and Corporate Traveller and covers the two weeks from March 2 to March 15 – the two Monday-to-Sunday weeks following the beginning of the current conflict in the Middle East which started on February 27.
While some flights are now operating out of Middle Eastern hubs including Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Doha in Qatar, other airlines are steering clear.
Virgin Australia has cancelled all of its flights to and from Doha until at least March 28, while British Airways has suspended its flights to Doha until April 30 and cancelled flights to Dubai until May 31.
The UK airline has also added services to Bangkok and Singapore in the first half of March, in response to the situation in the Middle East.

New business events resources launched for the Tweed
The northern New South Wales region has released a new planners guide and resources for team building activities ahead of the debut of new and refurbished venues in the Tweed.
The new collection of team building activities in the Tweed spotlights options unique to the region, including mindfulness in the mangroves, a seafood art workshop led by a hatted chef and paint and sip inside a record store.
Looking ahead, there are two new or improved event offerings on the horizon.
A new event space accessible to event organisers on the beachfront at Salt Surf Lifesaving Club in Kingscliff, just south of the Queensland border, is expected to open either late in 2026 or in early 2027.
Meanwhile Hillside Carool in the Tweed’s hinterland is in the throes of a major renovation. Once it reopens in May this year, it will offer revamped event spaces for small groups, alongside seven bedrooms, which will all have their own ensuites post-renovation.
