ICCA names new senior director
The International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) has appointed Alexander Alles as its senior director of advocacy and sustainability.
Alles will join ICCA on April 1, moving over from the Joint Meetings Industry Council (JMIC) where he has been the executive director since August 2022.
This is a new role for the association, as it looks to elevate two critical issues for the meetings industry.
“Advocacy and sustainability are central to our mission, and ICCA is making a purposeful investment to lead boldly in both areas,” said ICCA CEO, Senthil Gopinath.
“This senior role strengthens our ability to deliver meaningful strategies, support our global community and move our industry from ambition to action.”
Alles said he was “honoured” to be joining ICCA “at such an important moment for the business events industry”.
“I look forward to supporting ICCA’s vision by advancing a strong global advocacy agenda and helping embed sustainability – particularly the Net Zero Carbon Events framework – across the ecosystem to accelerate real, measurable progress.”
