New leadership at Expertise Events

Founder of Expertise Events, Gary Fitz-Roy, will move from managing director to a founder and owner role in the exhibition and event organiser, with Deborah Evans chosen as the company’s new CEO.

Evans has extensive experience in the exhibitions and events sector, having held leadership roles with Freeman and Reed Exhibitions – now RX.

Fitz-Roy will remain ‘actively involved’ in the business, particularly in regard to its strategic direction, significant relationships and industry initiatives.

“This is a truly exciting evolution in our structure and leadership,” said Fitz-Roy.

“Our events are consistent and have been performing strongly.

“Bringing on someone with Debbie’s experience in growth offers a major catalyst to Expertise. This structure further bolsters our team and offers a fresh perspective for the future.”

The appointment comes as Expertise Events flags it will launch four new events this year, focussing on pop culture and a variety of environmental issues.

“The business is in a strong position with a great team culture,” said Evans.

“The opportunity now is to elevate performance, driving revenue growth, strengthening leadership capability and building even greater commercial discipline across the group.

“This next chapter is about scaling intelligently and ensuring Expertise Events continues to thrive well into the future.”

Zac Fitz-Roy – Gary’s son – will continue as general manager for Expertise Events, leading event delivery, team performance and portfolio outcomes.

“Expertise has been a success for over 35 years under Gary’s leadership, and even in the past five years has grown significantly,” said the younger Fitz-Roy.

“Deb brings a rare combination of global scale experience and hands-on operational guidance that can really bolster the next phase.

 “Her track record offers an invaluable perspective and guidance.

“She understands what high-performing events look like, from launch strategy to large-scale portfolio management. Having that experience embedded in the business strengthens our capability and positions us to execute our future growth plans with confidence.
