“We’ve seen a real surge in enquiries and bookings across diverse industries, which is a clear sign of confidence in both our venue and the Gold Coast as a destination,” said GCCEC’s executive sales manager, Anna Case.
“From major international congresses to community celebrations, the diversity of events we’re attracting speaks to the versatility of the centre and the trust clients place in our team.”
The venue hosted 29 events in Q1 of the new financial year, with medical, technology and agriculture events dominating. The venue also hosted graduations, school formals and played a role in public events including the Gold Coast Marathon.
“A strong first quarter sets the tone for the year ahead, and we’re proud to play our part in showcasing the Gold Coast on a national and international stage,” said GCCEC’s managing director, Nick Jeffrey.
“Every event hosted at GCCEC brings visitors, opportunities and investment to the region and that creates a lasting legacy well beyond the centre’s walls.”
The Gold Coast plays a significant role in Queensland’s business events landscape – the regional destination hosts more than half of all business events held in Queensland, according to the Queensland Business Events Survey.
“Our united approach to showcasing the Gold Coast’s distinct appeal is driving momentum and converting into economic wins for the city,” said Experience Gold Coast’s director of business events, Brooke Campbell.
“Business events are vital for our visitor economy.
“The Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre is leading the way for regional venues by attracting high-yield conferences and exhibitions that in turn see business visitors inject significant spend into our local tourism operators.”
