Convention services that go beyond logistics
Business Events Wellington (BEW) offers free, professional convention services at every stage of planning – from venue sourcing and delegate marketing to cultural integration and legacy initiatives. Whether it’s boosting attendance, activating the city with welcome packs and discounts or connecting you with local speakers and suppliers, BEW acts as a true partner.
Feedback from a recent organiser highlights the above and beyond support.
“The BEW team understood our needs and went above and beyond to deliver a seamless experience,” said the organiser.
Tākina: A venue with meaning, prestige and spirit
Located at the heart of Wellington’s cultural precinct, Tākina is the capital’s striking new convention and exhibition centre with 10,000m2 of flexible space. Its name, meaning “to invoke, summon, connect and bring forth” in te reo Māori, was gifted by Taranaki Whānui to honour the powerful winds of Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington Harbour). These winds symbolise movement, transformation and the sharing of ideas. Inspired by Māori stories of natural forces, Tākina is not just a practical event space but one rich in cultural identity and storytelling.
Compact, connected and easy for delegates
Wellington’s compact layout means delegates can walk from venue to hotel to waterfront dining in minutes. With over 4,000 hotel rooms within walking distance of Tākina and over 50 direct trans-Tasman flights weekly, travel is straightforward and stress-free.
Engage with government and thought leaders
As New Zealand’s capital, Wellington offers unique access to government agencies, research institutes and policy makers. Organisers can elevate their event impact by engaging directly with national decision-makers and thought leaders.
Financial support for Australian conferences
Eligible Australian conferences can access subvention funding and tailored support packages to offset costs and enhance delegate experiences, and BEW helps navigate these options.
