New Sunshine Coast aircraft hangar offers event possibilities
Machjet’s new hangar offers banquet space for over 1,000 event attendees at Sunshine Coast Airport.

The 2,200m2 space will ordinarily be used to house a variety of small private jets and enables Machjet International to expand its operations in critical medical services, like aeromedical retrievals and time critical organ transfers.

However, the hangar also offers a unique and large-scale event space.

Next month the hangar will host the SunnyKids Mayoral Ball, which raises money for children and families experiencing domestic violence.

“The Mayoral Ball has always been about uniting our community to create safer futures for children and families,” said SunnyKids CEO, Kathleen Hope.

“In 2025, we are proud to elevate the experience even further by being the very first to stage an event in Machjet’s stunning new hangar. It will be an unforgettable evening that combines glamour with purpose.”

For Machjet, which offers corporate and VIP private jet services, the hangar is an evolution for the business.

“This hangar represents growth and innovation for our company, and we couldn’t think of a better way to showcase it than by supporting the Mayoral Ball,” said Machjet International managing director, Simon McDermott.

“We’re proud that this will be the first-ever event in the space and to stand alongside SunnyKids in creating an extraordinary evening for such an important cause.”
