Room options vary from entry level studios of 64m2 to 73m2 one and two-bedroom suites, homes and beach houses.
There is also the ultra-luxe 320m2 Sky House with its 5m ceilings and generous balcony offering 180-degree views of the ocean below.
Demonstrating its flexibility, this penthouse was abuzz with more than 80 event delegates and staff at a lunch during mega famil This is Gold Coast last week, yet there was still plenty of room to graze and network indoors and out.
Already popular with visitors and locals for its ground floor café, the street level also offers Mondrian’s ballroom that was set very comfortably with 10 round tables of eight, but some organisers on the famil queried the published banquet capacity of 210.
The hotel has 20 meeting and event spaces, including a suite of small meeting rooms with a barista in the pre-event space.
Chatting with This is Gold Coast delegates, the general opinion on the debut of the Mondrian brand in Australia was overwhelmingly positive. Currently there are Mondrian properties open in 11 cities around the world and it was noted by attendees that the Gold Coast was chosen to have Australia’s first Mondrian.
“It is pure indulgence, from the stunning ballroom to the serene day spa,” said Melbourne-based Emma Drummond from Roads Australia.
“There [are] world-class restaurants and intimate private dining spaces, which are perfect for small numbers.
“And don’t even get me started on the suites – sheer luxury. Every corner delivers an experience like no other.
“It is stylish, seamless and completely unforgettable. It is an absolute must on the Gold Coast,” she said.
Alison Robinson, Sydney-based association executive with the Turnaround Management Association, was also positive.
“I thought it was a super luxe venue,” said Robinson.
“I love the options, that it wasn’t just an event space and the restaurants, but you could use the rooms for an extra event. I thought that was really inspiring…a different offering to other hotels. I thought that was really special. It had that Calile feel that I thought was super luxe,” she said referencing the Brisbane hotel that has twice been named amongst the world’s 50 best hotels.
Opening in June, the 208-key Mondrian Gold Coast is part of the joint venture between Accor and Ennismore.
