Event tech companies, Lateral get onboard as MEA sponsors
As the association celebrates its 50th year, Meetings and Events Australia (MEA) has announced a growing, event tech heavy sponsor pool.

Cvent has come onboard as the 50th Anniversary Premium Gold Event Technology Partner while its competitor EventsAir will sponsor the Event of the Year awards in MEA’s state and territory and national industry awards.

Lateral Events will also sponsor the association’s mentoring program which will have 50 places for those wishing to be mentored this year, a slight rise on spots available last year, to match the milestone year for MEA.

Cvent will provide event technology for MEA’s conference in June, to be held at the recently renovated Sofitel Sydney Wentworth, as well as contributing thought leadership to the association. MEA is already taking registrations for the conference through Cvent’s platform.

“As a leader in event technology, Cvent is dedicated to enhancing the experience for all MEA members, the broader industry and delegates of the 2025 MEA National Conference with the registration software, check-in kiosk and conference event app,” said Cvent Australia’s senior director and country head, Jack Ukil.

“We look forward to helping MEA deliver a successful year of events and industry knowledge-sharing that fosters meaningful connections, elevates engagement, enhances professional development and maximises the impact of every moment.”

MEA’s CEO, Mellisa Gillies, said “This collaboration strengthens our dedication to providing impactful experiences, knowledge-sharing, and greater opportunities for our members and the broader events industry”.

“With Cvent’s cutting-edge technology, we are pleased the partnership will provide case studies, thought-leadership discussions, webinars for industry development and knowledge sharing and event technology information to benefit members, partners and industry throughout this 50th anniversary year.”

EventsAir will sponsor the nine Event of the Year categories for MEA’s awards program, entries for which recently closed.

The categories include awards for the best association, cause-related, corporate, government and incentive events of the year, in addition to the year’s best exhibition, special event, major event or festival and regional event.

“At EventsAir, we understand the work that goes into delivering exceptional events, and we’re honoured to support the industry’s best and brightest through the Event of the Year awards,” said EventsAir’s chief customer officer, Renee Elliott.

“Every nominated event represents the passion, precision and ingenuity that make this industry so extraordinary.”

Meanwhile Lateral Events is putting its support behind MEA’s mentorship program for another year, which will pair fifty up-and-comers in the industry with experienced industry professionals.

“Lateral have a strong connection to mentoring the next generation of event professionals and we value this opportunity to contribute to the industry’s longevity through connecting tomorrow’s event managers with today’s industry legends,” said Lateral CEO, Megan Peters.

“Mentoring is a rewarding experience for both the mentor and mentee and we are thrilled to be able to provide this opportunity once again through MEA.”

For the first time, the program will include a face-to-face mentoring session, which will take place at the national conference in June. For mentors and mentees who can’t make it to the conference, the session will be livestreamed.

Applications for the mentorship program open today and close on March 31. The program itself will run from late April to late August.
