Anticipating the business development in Sunshine driven by state government major projects, Punthill Sunshine has opened well before the much-touted rail link to the airport at Tullamarine is built.
After a four-week soft opening, it was officially launched this week with Zed Sanjana, the CEO of Veriu Group – which includes all Punthill properties – saying the strategy was to grow Punthill in sites “supported by major sources of corporate room night demand”.
The Sunshine precinct is set to become a transport ‘superhub’ linking the CBD with both regional Victoria and Melbourne Airport.
Sanjana said the hotel was at “the epicentre of the city’s thriving western region, and we expect this appeal will only be further strengthened once the Melbourne Airport Rail service is up and running”.
The population of Sunshine is expected to double over the next 30 years with the Victorian Government’s investment in infrastructure delivering an increase in tourism, leisure and corporate travel.
Punthill Sunshine has modern studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartments, with fully equipped kitchens, desks and fast internet. There is also 88m2 of divisible meeting and event space as well as communal workspaces.
The launch of the new Punthill Sunshine brings the total number of hotels in the combined Punthill Apartment Hotels and Veriu Hotels & Suites group to 24, with other new properties, Veriu Macquarie Park Sydney and Veriu Adelaide, set to open early next year.
