Perth famil targets Asian corporate incentive market
Off the back of its Reawaken mega-famil in March that has already secured an expected near $70 million in direct delegate expenditure, Business Events Perth will stage a similar event targeting the inbound incentive sector next month.

There was “significantly more business that we’re working on…these are long lead time events,” Business Events Perth CEO Gareth Martin told micenet about the March event at the conclusion of the recent World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) Global Summit in Perth that attracted 800 delegates, 500 of them international.

Martin confirmed that the original Reawaken program had been reviewed and would now be divided into two programs – association and incentive.

“Our planning for this current financial year is to push it into two programs, so we will be hosting the first of those in November this year, focused on corporate incentive clients,” he said, adding that the November event “will also be timed with the return of services with China Southern Airlines, when they fly direct back into Perth, so we’ll have some VIP opportunity with that”.

The incentive Reawaken famil has already attracted 25 corporate clients “looking at itineraries that probably more closely align to what their delegates seek” said Martin.

“We’re fortunate in Western Australia that many of the activities in a strong incentive program can be unlocked within 45 minutes of the city, so groups can tend to focus on a metropolitan-based program.

“But we actually went back into our groups for the last financial year and more than 60 per cent of the international incentive programs travelled all across the state, as far as Australia’s northwest, in fact, out to Wave Rock, and then many groups…travelled up to Pink Lake, which is [on] Australia’s Coral Coast, down to Busselton, to the jetty. So we have groups that go far and wide as part of the extended programs.”

There will also be condensed city-based programs as part of the famil. And while the WTTC Global Summit dinner on the turf at Optus Stadium saw 800 delegates plus local industry partners dine and dance under a pulsating light show with live performers until late into the night, Martin said the venue provided other options for a more condensed event with its range of internal event spaces.
