Lanson Place Parliament Gardens on Albert Street in East Melbourne is part of a nine-hotel group established in 1996 with properties across Asia Pacific, including Hong Kong, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Manila.
Described by its owners as a five-star boutique property, the new Melbourne hotel has 137 rooms, studios and one and two bedroom apartments, plus two penthouses.
Redevelopment of the heritage-protected former printing works, built in 1901, has quietly taken place and now its modern facilities include a wellness centre, a 20m swimming pool, a 24-hour fitness centre and a ground-floor restaurant and bar.
For the business events market Lanson Place has three distinct spaces – a boardroom for 10, the Albert Lounge for 50 and Chronicle 502 for up to 100. In addition, small corporate retreats could use either of the two-bedroom penthouses, with one able to accommodate 10 while the other can host 20, with a private balcony.
The hotel’s general manager, Marcus Packham, described Lanson Place as more than just a hotel.
“Our goal is to create a true ‘home-away-from-home’ for every guest,” he said.
Its location is not only close to the parliamentary precinct but also Melbourne’s major medical facilities including the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, St Vincent’s Hospital and the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital.
Just beyond the city grid, Lanson Place is walkable to Melbourne’s famed public gardens and is well served by different tram routes to CBD dining, theatre and sporting venues.
