The latest generation of Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi 6 offers theoretical maximum speed capability more than twice as fast as the previous Wi-Fi 5 generation.
Introduced as the highest possible Wi-Fi standard in 2019, Wi-Fi 6 generally works with newer electronic devices and faster speeds are now available to every visitor to ICC Sydney with a compatible device – from smart phones to laptops and everything in between.
Wi-Fi 6 also provides better connections for multiple devices on a network, which is another big bonus for the convention centre, which often welcomes hundreds or thousands of visitors each day.
In addition, the latest Wi-Fi generation has significantly lower latency – essentially the delay in the transfer of data – than previous generations of Wi-Fi infrastructure, which is a major benefit for streaming content from an event or delivering a virtual or hybrid event at ICC Sydney. It also boost any gaming or esports events held at the venue.
“ICC Sydney was purpose-built to cater for ever-evolving meetings and through this investment it has strengthened its ability to execute even better events for our diverse network of clients and visitors,” said ICC Sydney CEO Geoff Donaghy.
“Our team members take great pride in presenting seamlessly integrated technological solutions and the latest internet connectivity venue enhancements support this ongoing quest for excellence.
“As we welcome record-breaking numbers of local, national and international events and attendees that expect human-centric technological solutions, we are proud to further strengthen Sydney’s position as one of the world’s most desirable business events destinations.
“Working with the latest technology and the best people in the industry, the future possibilities for business and entertainment events are limitless,” he said.
Events like the recent Salesforce World Tour hosted by ICC Sydney, which had 9,800 attendees and exhibitors, have already benefitted from the Wi-Fi upgrade.
