Wellington preparing for its biggest ever business events showcase
With the second of New Zealand’s next-gen convention centres, Wellington’s Tākina, holding its first test events this month, including a trans-Tasman psychology symposium for around 500 delegates, New Zealand’s capital city is preparing for its biggest showcase to the business events industry, when MEETINGS is held in Wellington for the first time in June.

New Zealand’s flagship business events trade event, organised by industry association Business Events Industry Aotearoa (BEIA), will be held at Tākina, with Business Events Wellington also having the opportunity to showcase the business events potential of the wider city through the event’s social program and a pre-famil for over 160 buyers visiting the city for MEETINGS.

“We’re super excited to show Tākina off to our industry, and to highlight how we can support organisations to successfully bring their business events here,” says Business Events Wellington manager Irette Ferreira.

“Our stand will showcase all that Wellington has to offer as we enter into a new era of business events and strive to position our city as New Zealand’s events capital.”

“This will be our biggest stand in history, with 20 stand partners participating.

“Buyers and visitors can earn vouchers or points to redeem at our ‘Made in Wellington’ store lined with tasty goodies from our region, along with a few extra surprises,” she says.

Exhibitors joining the Wellington stand for the first time include Wellington Zoo, Public Trust Hall and Red Pebble. Businesses from Wairarapa, an hour north of Wellington, also joining the Wellington stand include Moy Hall Vineyard, Copthorne Solway Park, The Martinborough Hotel and Destination Wairarapa.

Business Events Wellington is getting a major famil opportunity on the day before MEETINGS, kicks off, with 160 buyers set to experience the best of Wellington’s business events product during a day-long tour.

Te Papa Tongarewa Museum of New Zealand, opposite the new convention centre will host the welcome event for MEETINGS, while the waterfront TSB Auditorium at Shed 6 will host the closing gala dinner, providing additional opportunities to see Wellington’s business events venues in action.
