Managing director of the Globus family of brands, Gai Tyrrell said Weir’s dedication to her work, abundance of energy and enthusiasm made her a beloved colleague and friend who will be greatly missed.
“Joyce’s passion and determination for seeking out new business was unmatched. She did everything with a smile and a skip in her step,” said Tyrrell. “She was a shining light who will be forever missed.”
Weir spent more than 15 years at Qantas, rising from an account manager for industry sales to regional sales manager leading the focus on the business events market. She went on to spend nearly four years with Hawaiian Airlines, where she received the Hawaiian Airlines CEO Outstanding Achievement award ‘Lau Lima’ for saes excellence.
She joined Globus in 2021, continuing her business events focus. Just last month, she hosted a table at Incentivise Live, the local conference from the ANZ chapter of the Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE), on behalf of Globus brand, Avalon Waterways.
