More details of event space revealed a week out from Queen’s Wharf opening
Over 120 events are locked in for Brisbane’s $3.6 billion Queen’s Wharf between opening next week and June 2025.

With the Queen’s Wharf precinct set to begin opening next Thursday, August 29, The Star Entertainment Group, which has a 50 per cent stake in the precinct, has shared more details of The Events Centre, set to be Queen’s Wharf’s largest indoor space.

The Events Centre includes a 2,000m2 ballroom with floor to ceiling windows, a 6m ceiling and a 24m by 4m LED screen from in-house provider AVPartners. The ballroom has programmable colour changing lights throughout and can be split into five separate spaces.

Beyond the ballroom, there will be a central glass atrium, a 235m2 pre-function bar with views out to Brisbane’s Story Bridge, and a 90m2 outdoor terrace.

“With the ability to split the ballroom space into five separate event areas, or one giant ballroom, the size, scale and functionality of our purpose-designed Event Centre will not only complement but bolster the great work already being done in Queensland’s business events sector,” said The Star Brisbane’s CEO, Daniel Finch.

“Events are vital contributors to Brisbane’s visitor and job-creation economy and we are proud to deliver a multitude of event facilities, including our Event Centre, Leisure Deck, Sky Deck and signature five-star hotel, that will also help boost the region’s must-visit appeal ahead of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.”

The Event Centre will be serviced by a massive banqueting kitchen, half the size of a football field – 815m2 – which is expecting to pump out 140,000 meals a year.

“This is a chef’s kitchen with the latest culinary appliances, enormous, automated dishwashing areas and spacious service stations for our team members,” said The Star Brisbane’s director of culinary, chef Uday Huja.

“From the moment we welcome our first event, we will be sourcing the best of Queensland produce with restaurant-style menus and dining.

“We aspire to help raise the bar and make Brisbane even more destinational through our food offerings and guest experience, supporting local businesses and showcasing the amazing food and wine we have in the sunshine state.”

Events slated to be held at Queen’s Wharf in the near future include the Brisbane Broncos end of season presentation ball, the Ronald McDonald House Charities SEQ Gala Ball, Destination IQ, the DestinationQ Forum and the Queensland Tourism Awards.

The Professional Conference Organisers Association (PCOA) is also hosting its annual conference at Queen’s Wharf from December 1 to 3, 2024.

Queen’s Wharf will also have three main outdoor event spaces capable of accommodating around 1,000 guests each – The Landing, the Leisure Deck and the precinct’s hero event space, the Sky Deck, a 250m wraparound space suspended 100m above the city.
