IBTM World show floor nearly sold out
With IBTM World in Barcelona, Spain, less than two months away, exhibition sales are tracking higher than 2022 and 2019.

Organisers of the event have sold 85 per cent of available floor space for the global business events trade show, which will take place from November 28 to 30, 2023.

Along with IMEX Frankfurt and IMEX America – which goes ahead in Las Vegas in just over a week – IBTM World is a major show for Australia to showcase itself as a business events destination to the Northern Hemisphere. Business Events Australia typically hosts an Australia stand at all three events each year.

IBTM World organisers have reported that several regions have grown their presence at the show significantly year-on-year. Mexico, Costa Rica and Los Angeles are officially returning to the show floor in 2023 for the first time since the pandemic began, while Indonesia’s largest city, Jakarta, will be represented in the exhibition for the first time. Elsewhere in Asia, Hong Kong and Macau will have their biggest presences to date.

Out of Africa and the Middle East, Jordon, Morocco and Abu Dhabi have all increased their floor space, while in Europe, a larger stand for France and Paris will be used to showcase business events opportunities surrounding the Olympic Games set to be held in Paris in 2024. Meanwhile, the London stand will educate attendees on business events in the British capital post-Brexit.

“The vast and diverse exhibitor participation represents more opportunities to do business, as well as indicating the robustness of the global business events sector,” said IBTM World’s portfolio director, Vasyl Zhygalo.

“We’re thrilled to see the return of several exhibitors as well as welcoming new ones and we look forward an exciting show where attendees come together to shape the future of business events.”

In August, just over two months out from their show, IMEX Las Vegas also reported an anticipated strong presence from both buyers and sellers, with the combined footprint of stands from US exhibitors set to be the largest ever, and “well over 3,000” buyers from around the world signed up to attend in the first seven weeks of buyer registrations.

At IMEX America, running October 17 to 19, there is also expected to be a sizable sample of event technology on show, including event platforms, apps and chatbots.
