Crystalbrook Collection has four properties environmentally certified
Crystalbrook Collection has backed up its “responsible luxury” tagline with EarthCheck certification across four of its Australian properties and another two on their way.

Crystalbrook’s three Cairns properties, which launched the brand – Crystalbrook Riley, Crystalbrook Flynn and Crystalbrook Bailey – have all received silver level certification from EarthCheck, as has Crystalbrook Vincent at Howard Smith Wharves in Brisbane.

Crystalbrook Byron in Byron Bay and Crystalbrook Kingsley in Newcastle have each received bronze benchmarking, which is one of the steps before silver certification can be achieved.

The Crystalbrook Collection began its journey towards certification in 2021, when it first partnered with EarthCheck.

To achieve certification, the hotel group had to ensure it had the right policies in place, be benchmarked, ensure each property had a sustainability management system in place and, finally, be audited property by property, with the benchmarking and auditing process considering energy consumption, water use, carbon emissions, use of chemicals, waste, paper use and employee and community engagement.

“We are extremely proud of our achievements to date in sustainability,” said CEO of Crystalbrook Collection Geoffrey York.

“Our EarthCheck certification demonstrates Crystalbrook Collection’s commitment to environmental and sustainable practices and reinforces the incredible initiatives across our portfolio that help us pave the way in this space.

“Our partnership with EarthCheck allows us to take a huge leap forward in enhancing sustainable stays, ensuring that every guest who stays with us can feel good knowing they are travelling with a lighter footprint.

“At Crystalbrook Collection, we are always measuring our progress and challenging ourselves to improve and grow, particularly in sustainability, which is at the heart of what we stand for. Through EarthCheck, we have a platform to measure our progress and continue to make strides towards an even more sustainable future.”

CEO and founder of EarthCheck, Stewart Moore, praised Crystalbrook’s “robust commitment” to sustainability.

“The EarthCheck certification across Crystalbrook’s key properties in Australia stands as a testament to their environmental stewardship and a benchmark for the entire industry,” said Moore.

“It’s a partnership that promises to set new standards in responsible luxury, making every guest’s stay a step forward for a sustainable future.”

All of Crystalbrook’s newly certified properties have event spaces.
