Another Hyatt brand to launch in Melbourne
Having launched Australia’s first Hyatt Place and Hyatt Centric hotels in Melbourne, the US-based hotel operator is to debut another new brand, Hyatt House, in South Melbourne in 2025.

Based on a philosophy of providing home comforts, the 97-room Hyatt House South Melbourne will comprise studios and one bedroom kitchen suites with a spacious living room and a separate bedroom. The hotel will also feature a communal gathering spot, H Bar, open for breakfast and evening cocktails. There’s also a 24-hour fitness room.

While its location near South Melbourne Market will cater well to the extended stay crowd, it is also a short tram ride along Clarendon Street to the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. It will be the first major international hotel brand in South Melbourne, although there are other five-star properties in neighbouring Southbank.

Hyatt House is already under construction as part of a mixed-use residential development, Oasis Residences by Holder East.

Melbourne got its first Hyatt, Grand Hyatt Melbourne in Collins Street in 1988 followed by Park Hyatt Melbourne in 1999. There are 130 Hyatt House hotels worldwide, the first established in 1957. Hyatt operates about 28 brands worldwide.
