Adelaide notches up another conference win
Off the back of their selection to host the Philanthropy Australia conference next year, Adelaide is also set to host the Australian cruise industry in 2024.

The South Australian Tourism Commission secured the Australian Cruise Association national conference and AGM for South Australia at the beginning of September 2024.

Around 130 delegates, including leaders of national and international cruise lines are expected to converge on Adelaide for the event.

“After a hugely successful restart to cruising in South Australia last year and a bumper season, it is wonderful to get this big show of support in our state,” said South Australia’s tourism minister, Zoe Bettison.

“With a record-breaking 124 ships set to visit our shores in the upcoming season, it is clear South Australia is a destination of choice for cruise lines – and now too, for the industry’s annual conference.”

CEO of the Australian Cruise Association, Jill Abel, agreed that South Australia was a strong draw for cruises.

“The committee’s decision to take the conference to Adelaide made perfect sense as the state’s appeal continues to grow for the curious cruise traveller,” Abel said.

The cruise conference win for Adelaide comes after a spate of national and international meetings were confirmed for Adelaide, including the Advancing Earth Observation Forum 2024 and the Asia Pacific Stroke Conference 2024, both also set to be held in September, and the 2026 International Masters of Wine Symposium in November 2026.

Just last Friday, Business Events Adelaide also confirmed the Philanthropy Australia national conference would be held in Adelaide in August 2024.
