Long-time Club Med staffer, Marc Letourneau, has been appointed as GM for the all-inclusive resort business in the Pacific, returning to Australia to take up the role.
Letourneau has been with Club Med for more than 28 years and moves to his new position overseeing Australia and New Zealand from Tokyo, where he led Club Med’s presence in Japan and South Korea as GM for Northeast Asia.
A dual citizen of Australia and Canada, Letourneau previously spent more than nine years working for Club Med in Australia – as a business events sales manager and then as a sales manager, between 2006 and 2015. Since then, he has worked for Club Med in Asia.
“Returning home to Australia feels like coming full circle, and I’m pleased to be working again within a market I know so well,” said Letourneau.
“Having spent the past six years leading our Japan and South Korea markets, I’m looking forward to bringing those insights and experiences back to the Pacific, particularly as Japan continues to boom in popularity among Kiwi travellers.
“As an avid skier, I’m passionate about our mountain destinations and the distinctive experiences Club Med offers in this space.
“With new resorts in Borneo, Manado and Koh Samui on the horizon, alongside significant investment in our existing resorts, we have an exciting opportunity to build on Club Med’s position as a leader in premium all-inclusive holidays.
“My focus will be on continuing to build awareness and trust across New Zealand and Australia, showcasing the breadth of our destinations and the quality of the experience we deliver, and inspiring more travellers to discover Club Med.
“I’d also like to congratulate Michelle on her new role and wish her every success in this next chapter in Southeast Asia.
“She leaves a strong foundation in the Pacific, and I look forward to building on that momentum with the team and our industry partners.”
Davies, who was GM of Club Med Pacific for more than six years, has moved on to become general manager for Southeast Asia, relocating to Kuala Lumpur for the role. She will oversee Club Med in Singapore, Malaysia and other emerging markets in Southeast Asia.
“It’s been a privilege to lead Club Med’s Pacific market over the past six years and see the business go from strength to strength,” said Davies.
“I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved together, from delivering record-breaking performance, particularly across our ski portfolio, to successfully showcasing our evolving resort portfolio to the market and being recognised by the industry as Most Popular Accommodation Group for three consecutive years.
“These achievements are a testament to the dedication of our Pacific team and the strong relationships we’ve built with our travel industry partners. I’m extremely grateful to everyone who has been part of that journey.
“While I’m looking forward to this next chapter leading our Southeast Asian markets, the Pacific will always hold a special place for me, particularly as my home market.
“I’d like to thank our team and industry partners for their ongoing support and collaboration, and I’m delighted to welcome Marc Letourneau to the role.
“I’m confident the Pacific business is in great hands, and I look forward to seeing the team continue to build on its success from afar.”
While Club Med is best known for its all-inclusive holidays, it also services the business events market and offers exclusive buyouts of its resorts.
