The investment will see the group open several new lounges and upgrade existing facilities.
The most immediate new lounge will be in Sydney’s domestic T2 terminal, opening in December.
“This is the first independent pay-per-use lounge in Sydney Airport’s domestic precinct,” Plaza Premium Group’s general manager for Oceania, Cyrus Wong, told a media event in Sydney last week, attended by micenet.
“This lounge is for every T2 traveller. No status, specific airline or premium class ticket required.”
The 545m2 lounge will have 113 seats and offer workspaces, local food and beverage, barista coffee and floor-to-ceiling windows looking out onto the tarmac.
The domestic lounge at Sydney Airport brings Plaza Premium Group’s operations at Sydney Airport to six – including departure and arrival lounges in the airport’s international terminal, as well as its Aerotel hotel, also in the international terminal, which can be booked by the hour, for shorter layovers, or overnight.
“We are completely rebuilding our Brisbane lounge, where our Australian journey began in 2016, getting ready for the massive international growth leading up to [the] 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games,” said Wong.
The group will also open lounges in Cairns – both in the domestic and international terminals, with the domestic lounge set to open early next year.
“Across the country, by the end of 2027, essentially every Plaza Premium Group outlet in Australia will have been newly opened, upgraded or refreshed,” said Wong.
“This represents one of the most significant periods of investment in our Australian business since we first arrived here 10 years ago.
“Together this creates a national network – Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Cairns – across both domestic and international terminals. Lounge access shouldn’t be limited to long-haul travel.
“As we look towards the next decade, we’re certainly not complacent,” he said.
“Our ambition for the next decade is clear – to build a strong network of lounges and premium airport hospitality services across Australia and to keep raising the standard of [the] experience we provide.”
Alongside lounge access and airport hotels, Plaza Premium Group can also deliver a meet and greet service for event speakers, VIPs or entire delegate cohorts.
